May 16th – Sunday’s Sundry

Hourglass of words (so that’s where my time went!)

The end of the week has come once again and my thoughts this time are somewhat distracted. Weirdly enough, my partner bought a game for himself and I started playing it pretty heavily. It’s called Monster Train, and it’s a card-based floor defense game; you’re defending Hell’s remaining flame from angels looking to freeze you and your train. The game reminds me of Culdcept actually, and I realized I liked card-based games where I can choose deck’s theme and have the cards shuffled in for me (I wouldn’t do well trying to build a deck card by card at Magic usually wants people to do). However, I enjoy taking my cards, buffing them up, and seeing how far I can go. So far the Hell’s faction I love best are the Umbra and the little morsels they eat. It’s cute, and a good way to make sure I’m not all work and no play.

Speaking of work though, I submitted a sci-fi short to a magazine earlier this week (a little bit too much “Indiana Jones sliding under the door” last second for me, but it’s submitted). I also got my AO3 exchange fiction finished and uploaded on time as well, and I’ve been… mostly instantly replying to messages (mostly). I admit, I still loathe emails, but they get done at some point. At this point there are lots of little things that need my attention, and I need to keep my endless list next to me. As a writer friend put it, my list is continually added too, and things are arranged by what’s due first (though if it’s a small task I might be able to knock it out earlier).

Currently it’s showing me the next seven submissions that I was interested in writing something up for. The genres range from LitRPG to horror to fantasy to sci-fi, and I’m hoping that by keeping them in view I’ll get a few more submissions sent out. I’ve also signed up for the Writer’s Workout Writer’s Games: 72 hours to get a prompt, write a short story, edit it, and send it in for feedback from the judges. I had a lot of fun streaming the challenge on Twitch and I received an early signup invitation to do that again. Which… means I need to change my Twitch images again to show what’s coming up.

Last but not least was my goal of write a chapter + edit a chapter every day. Writing = got it! Especially since I’m streaming for about 3-4 hours during the day. Editing… I need to knuckle down and get that done. There are lots of Monsters Down the Hall chapters that need some polishing before they’re put up on Wattpad and BuyMeACoffee. Other than that, I’ve been plugging away at the PC and getting things done (even if there’s always more to do).

A Tokyo writer, I walk through destroyed lands, play with DNA strings like a kitten, and cast magic all about me. Prickly when poked, and subsiding on coffee, I may be a hedgehog in human form. Possibly.
